After fifty years away, I’ve returned home to Zambia, rediscovering the land that shaped my family’s history and, perhaps, my own identity.
This blog is a place for stories—of life in the breathtaking South Luangwa Valley, of adventures in the bush, and of confronting the complexities of relationships and a family legacy rooted in the colonial history of this land. It’s a journey of homecoming, reconciliation, and exploration. I invite you to join me on this journey—to laugh, learn, and reflect as I navigate life in an unfamiliar land that is also home. Jump on board and I’ll take you with me.

It’s Alive!
Adjusting to life in Zambia means embracing the heat, the bugs, and the occasional half-naked baboon chase at dawn. Welcome to my new normal.
Make Do and Mend
I love the inventiveness of a Make Do and Mend attitude, but there are downsides…
Want to listen rather than read?
As a little experiment - I’ve recorded audio of me reading It’s Alive! Let me know if you’d like to hear more…
(You may hear the sounds of nature in Zambia in the background…)
